What a big day!!!

   Talofa Lava blogging world,
On Monday the 11th of December 2017 we had wheels day and mufti. On the day we had to bring along wheels to school and wear mufti (if you want). Lot's of people brang skateboards, rollerskates, scooters, bikes and much more to play with. Wheels day felt like the gala day except just with our whole school in different groups (Seniours, Juniours, middles). We had 3 area's that we had to move to when we have finished 1 area. One of the area's was where we could go on the waterslide, pool and watch (that is only one section). Another section was in the games area which had 3 games to play. There was T-ball, capture the flag, and the chill zone area. The Seniours all started at the pool section but we had to split into our dance groups that we did 2 terms ago. Our group had to watch both grouos having fun. Next we got to move to the swimming pool. Me and Margaret were wrestling each other down while doing handstands in the water. Our last stop of the session was the slip'n slide. We had to go individualy in the first try but then we could go into pairs. After our water fun we had to go to the games back into our groups again. We started with capture the flag to T-ball then chill zone. After all the groups finished all 3 area's the people who brang wheels went to the wheels area.
Here is some photo's of the day.

Everyone had fun on the day even though it was tiring. My favourite area would be the chill zone because we got to chill out (but we didn't) underneath the trees. Thank you for reading this post please feel free to comment below even if they are questions.

What I loved about the year?

Aloha blogging world,
I am here once again to tell you that I have had a wonderful 6 years at Waikowhai Primary school. This is kind of like a speech but I am just going to say what I have loved doing throughout the years (photo's will be included). One of my memorable moments of the year would be playing Netball with Mr Ross, Mrs Jones, Nga and making it in to Netball zones. I just want to thank them lot's for the hard work they have coached our team.
Here are some photo's on the day!!!

GO NEVAEH!!!
Max goes for the shot (will he get it in).

We came 1st place overall!

Selfie time!!!

Caitlin tries to pass the ball

It was AMAZING! going to netball zones I got to verse other schools that I know that are close to our school. We had seperate groups for playing Netball. One group was called the B team the other was the A team. I was in the A team because we versed other school's that were in the A team. Since Netball has finished overall I am trying to find a new club to join in and hopefully it makes me become a better player.  If you have any idea's of any clubs please add to your comment.
Please feel free to comment below on my post.

Thinking time!!!!!

Hello fellow bloggers,
On the 25th of November 2017 we had a very big day which was our Gala day. The day was packed with lot's and lot's of people. After the very big day our teacher gave us work to do on a slideshow. On the slideshow we had to reflect on the gala day by using the 6 thinking hat's. As you can see below there is a slideshow which is the slideshow that I was metioning earlier. Feel free to have a look at the slideshow.

My favourite thinking hat in the slideshow would have to be the blue one. It's not just the colour but also the questions that I had to answer. The questions were explaining about how I think the day went. It was easy doing this slideshow because it had questions to answer and I love answering questions. I wish the negative things never happened at the Gala day because I just wanted it to be fun and happy. I learnt that the Gala day was to have fun, make new friends and be happy
Please post a comment below on my work.
Thanks!!!

Making tote bags

Kia ora bloggers,
Through the term Te Waka Ako have been making things that help our environment. Our classroom made tote bags to reduce plastic bags, the other 2 classrooms made soap and christmas cards out of recycled paper. We are making these things because we are having a Gala Day that is happening soon. There are 2 different ways to make a tote bag. You can make a tote bag out of fabric or make a screenprinting bag. To make a fabric tote bag you need: Sewing machine, any type of fabric, scissors, pins, straps. It takes a lot of practise to sew the fabric and straps onto the bag because you need to correct the length and placing of where the pieces need to go. To make a screenprinting bag you need: Squeechy, ink (any colour), frame, sewing machine, pegs, scissors, pins.
1. Grab your fabric and cut it out evenly so it looks like a rectangle.
2. pin the sides together so you know where to sew in a straight line.
3. Start sewing your bag together but don't sew the top of the bag.
4. Iron down your bag until it's flat.
5. Grab some straps and make sure you have 2 straps that are 70 cm long.
5. pin the straps onto the bag.
6. Sew your straps on in a squared shape with a cross in the middle.
7. Ready, set, finished!!!.
( Remember this takes practise )
It takes a while making a tote bag at first but when you get used to it then you can make one faster. We are selling these to fundraise money but the important reason why we are selling these bags is that it helps the environment because we are reusing these things. I have learnt that the more things that we reuse the less our world becomes polluted. Tote bags are sustainable because we are not harming any of our animals habitats and it can go on and on again.

I think that we are doing good so far because we are reusing things and working very hard. Our teacher says that if our tote bag is really finished we have to say to ourselves if our tote bags are sustainable enough for people to put their things in. The environment has changed my thinking because we are mostly doing this process for our world.
If you are reading this post please comment below and also come around to Waikowhai primary school on the Gala day coming up soon. For more information come and see the posters hanging up on our school classrooms.

Our reading progress

Talofa Lava blogging world.
In the last few weeks Te Waka Ako have been doing lot's and lot's of reading. We have been reading different types of novels in our reading groups. Our group got to pick out of 2 books. The books were called 'The crack in the sky' or 'Dunger'. Most of the people in my group picked the book called 'Dunger' because they have already read The book called crack in the sky beofore. I chose the book called Dunger. It took a while to read this book but we finished it just before we did a slideshow. This slideshow that I am mentioning about is called book review. We had to smrf the slideshow and fill in the slides that tells us to review on about our book . This slideshow for me was easy because I have done it already last year when I was reading the book called 'Crack in the sky' ( which was one of the novels that I could choose from).  The book dunger is just about 2 children that go to their hippie grandparents house for the rest of their holidays because they could'nt afford to go to Queenstown for 1 week. They don't along with their grandparents but at the end something sad happens and draws the children to theirgrandparents attention, espically one of the children called William. I won't tell you the sad part and the rest of the unless you read through the slides and find out.
Here is my sldieshow feel free to flick through.

Our group has been working very hard to achieve this sluideshow. I learnt that It takes time to read a novel and finish a slideshow that you have to review about on your book. My goal for next time is to work more independently while working because I was working with my friends and talking at the same time but I got the slideshow finished.

Once upon a time.....

Kia ora bloggers,
It's been a while since I have posted my last post which was about our Cross country. Well today I am sharing with you about my Reading. For past couple of weeks we have been reading a novel from our reading groups. We all had different novels or books to read. Our group had the book called 'Dunger'. I love the book because it's interesting, sad, funny and adventurous. Our teacher Ms Sands told us to smrf a slideshow called 'Book review'. It's a slideshow that had slides telling us to summarise about the novels that we read. It was easy to do because I have already experienced the slideshow last year. The book is about 2 kids named William and Melissa. It is a special holiday for them because they are going on a trip to Queenstown. But they realise that they can't afford to go. They now have to stay with their hippie grandparents for the rest of the holiday while their parents try to get money to go to Queenstown. Will the wilson children like their holiday with their grandparents?.

Here is a photo of my book

This picture here is about my favourite slide out of all the slides. It's about Vocabulary and  glossary as you can see in the photo. We had to find words in the book that we didn't know or understand and find out the meaning of the word. Try and see if those words on the side are the words you know. If they aren't then they are new words to add to your vocabulary.

I finished the whole book in 1 week. The book had short chapters and pages to read so that's probably how I finished it easily. If there was more series of Dunger I would love to read those series because they Dunger is a really cool book to read.
If you are reading this post please remember to comment what you think down below about my post  and I will comment back to you as soon as possible.

Cross country!!!!

Kia ora bloggers,
This week on Tueday the 12th we had CROSS COUNTRY!!!!. It was really fun, AMAZING!, Hard and sweaty. This cross country was different to last cross country because this week was raining and we couldn't use the field even though, last year we used the whole field because it was a nice sunny week. Everyone did very well at running even though some people dropped out (Mostly the little). Before we started our Cross country we had to sit in Yr group lines from Yr 0&1 to Yr 6. The order went from Yr 0's to Yr 6's so the Yr 6's had to go last. People that were Leaders (Which was me and other people) got to do games and hang out with the children till it's there turn to run. There were 6 stations that they had to go to every time they finished that session. Ms Sands chose 2 leaders and 2 house captains to work together at a station. I was working with my friend Caitlin, Kieren and Joshua C. At our station we did warm up's before the children's run. We did Star jumps, burpees, stretches and other Warm up's. After all the hard work we've been doing it was the Yr 6's turn to run. We packed up our gear ready to run. The Yr 6 boys ran first then we ( Yr 6 girls) ran a while later. My friend Caitlin came 1st place then my othr friend Margaret then finally I came 3rd place.

Have a look at some of the videos and pictures of the day!

GO YR 3 GIRLS!!!!!

GO ANDRE! You came 1st place

The challenges were steep hills and steps my legs were burning while running up and down those steep hills and steps. Also mud was a problem some people slipped lots of time that they got mud all over them selves (My sister slipped and her bottom was covered in mud). I think that Cross country was a big challenge for me to see how far I can run, even for the whole school.
That's all I have for today but if you want to see more AMAZING! work just pop in and have a look. Remember to comment below on the work you are looking at.
BYE!!!
